Before you start
Choose a structure for the need you actually have. A shade pavilion, grandstand, washroom overhang and picnic shelter are different forms of cover. The city’s dimensions and seating descriptions are included below so the list helps with planning rather than simply naming parks.
This is the complete permanent-structure location list on the parks-system page. It is not a booking inventory and does not reserve space for a group. The separate seasonal pop-up structures are not counted among these 16 destinations.

Rules and exceptions
- Alexandra’s artist-designed pavilion has no rain protection. Do not plan a dry-weather backup on the assumption that it has a solid roof.
- The T. Homma school-park gazebo is available for public use outside school hours.
- Garden City and London/Steveston shelters list picnic tables; Tait lists movable tables and benches. Other listed structures may have different seating.
- The city also names informal roof overhangs at Minoru Centre, the library/cultural centre, Minoru Arenas, Steveston Tram, City Hall, Brighouse concession and Cambie Community Centre. These are additional building overhangs, not part of the 16 park-site count.
- Permanent cover does not change gas-barbecue restrictions or grant permission for a private event.
