The opportunity
We’re looking for a Product Designer to take on the digital work at the core of ONBOX. Someone who can move fluidly between designing apps, crafting standout websites, and thinking in systems.
You’ll bring strong creative craft to ambitious digital projects, with the ability to hold the whole picture and care for the smallest details. From a product flow to a website’s typography, from a single
interaction to a system that scales, you’ll help shape work that feels considered from start to finish.
AI is already part of how you work. You use it to explore, prototype, and get ideas into something tangible quickly. Ideally, you build with it too. We’re interested in what that opens up for the work and how you can help us take it further.
This starts as a six-month contract, with a real path to keep going. We’re building, and we’re looking for someone who wants to be part of that.
What you’ll do
Design digital products and websites
- Design experiences across apps and large-scale websites, from early flows and wireframes through to polished UI.
- Take projects from concept and strategy through to responsive, thoughtfully built experiences.
- Turn client briefs, audience needs, and product thinking into work that’s intuitive to use and distinctive in its execution.
Bring a creative point of view to the web
- Use layout, typography, motion, and interaction to bring a brand’s character into its digital experience.
- Push web design as a creative discipline, with ideas that carry through into the finished work.
- Own the details: responsive behaviour, micro-interactions, motion, and the design decisions that support performance.
Think in systems
- Shape large websites where structure, scale, and consistency matter.
- Build and maintain design systems and component libraries across web and product work.
- Bring clarity and reusability to complex projects while keeping room for creative expression.
Make AI part of the process
- Use AI tools and agents throughout design, prototyping, and production.
- Move quickly from an idea to something working and testable.
- Bring enough frontend understanding to direct tools effectively and get closer to shipping.
- Share what you learn and help the studio develop better ways of working.
Work closely with people
- Partner with strategy to turn insights into thoughtful, user-centred design.
- Collaborate with developers so the details carry through to the finished experience, getting hands-on where it helps.
- Present work to clients with confidence and explain the thinking behind your decisions.
- Share ideas early, listen closely, and help make the work better together.
What you’ll bring
- 5+ years of digital or product design experience across apps and large websites.
- Strong UI/UX fundamentals, product intuition, and systems thinking.
- A portfolio that makes your contribution clear, with standout websites, digital products, and systems that scale.
- A strong eye for layout and typography, with care for motion and interaction.
- Experience building and maintaining design systems.
- Fluency in Figma and experience in an agency or design studio.
- Confidence using AI throughout your design workflow. Experience building with tools such as Codex, Claude, Cursor or similar is a strong plus.
- An understanding of frontend components, layout, and responsive behaviour that helps you make ideas tangible.
- The ability to make a clear case for a design decision to a client and walk a junior designer through it with the same care.
The details
- Location: Vancouver, BC. Four days in office, one day remote.
- Type: Six-month contract, with a path to extend.
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9–5.
- Compensation: CAD $90,000–$110,000 annualized, depending on experience and demonstrated skills.
We hire people we want to keep working with. Contracts have a way of turning into conversations about what comes next.
