It is well suited to someone who understands how costs flow through real estate or construction projects and wants to keep developing their accounting career.
What You Will Do
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable activities and help coordinate approximately 500 outgoing payments per month.
- Review and accurately code vendor, trade and project-related invoices to the correct projects, divisions and accounts.
- Apply practical knowledge of construction job costing, holdbacks and project-related payment requirements.
- Communicate with suppliers, trades and internal project teams to resolve invoice questions and payment discrepancies.
- Prepare and support payment processing, including cheques and an upcoming transition to electronic payments.
- Maintain accurate AP records, verify supporting information and assist with reconciliations and month-end reporting packages.
- Work within Sage Intacct and contribute to process improvements as the organization evolves its AP systems and workflows.
What You Bring
- Previous accounts payable experience in real estate development, construction, general contracting, subcontracting or construction consulting.
- Working knowledge of construction job costing, holdbacks and allocating expenses across projects or business divisions.
- Strong accuracy and organization when handling multiple deadlines and a steady volume of payments.
- Confident written and verbal communication skills for working directly with suppliers, trades and project teams.
- Comfort using accounting software and spreadsheets. Experience with Sage products is an asset; Sage Intacct experience is not required.
- Ability to work on-site at the downtown Vancouver office, Monday through Friday.
What Is Offered
- An established real estate and construction environment with a knowledgeable and accessible accounting leadership team.
- A comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and dental coverage.
- Vacation entitlement with increases based on service; starting vacation may be discussed based on experience.
- Exposure to Sage Intacct and developing digital payment and AP automation processes.
- An opportunity to expand accounting skills in a business that supports professional development.
